The Most Common Web Design Mistakes
Web design can be done a myriad of different ways. You don’t need to be a design major or graphic artist to create one, you simply need a basic understanding of coding or a web design program. If you already know the basics the last stumbling block to overcome is common mistakes in the design.
When creating a website, you may have lofty ambitions and elaborate ideas how to make your website not just pop, but explode. In the days of yore, many people browsed the internet via dial up connection that were slow loading. The idea was to create a website that had a simple home page to prevent people for browsing away from the site after it took too long to load. Despite the fact that most people have a pretty decent net connect these days, you still want to avoid inundating people with too much. While some people find websites that open with Flash animations cool, most find it a nuisance and more often than not select the Skip Intro option.
You want your home page to clearly provide the viewer with easy to understand options. From the homepage you want the links to branch off in a logical way. You don’t want to make your users backtrack or be lead in circles. Often times before designing a website people will create a flow chart to lay things out.
Basically web design is all about accessibility and ease of use. Making the website pleasing to the eye is key and is highly encouraged, but it really comes secondary to being user friendly.
