Make photo memories
For a casual photographer, there are some times when it seems like one’s photobooks aren’t turning out as good as they should. Sometimes it seems like there is a certain element lacking, yet having no real knowledge of photography, it is difficult to conclude exactly what that element is. This article will inform one how to take better, more professional looking photos.
The first tip is to move in as close to the subject of the photo as physically possible. Unless the picture is meant to be a scenic shot, the background of the picture is at all not important. Try to align the bottom of the photo with the mid-waist level of the subject, this will allow one to get closer, while still focusing on the important aspects of the photo.
If there are two or less subjects in the picture, hold the camera sideways to give the picture more height, and less unnecessary side scenery. This will make the photo more focused, and allow the subject or subjects more room in the photo.
Despite popular opinion, full sunlight is not the preferable condition for good lighting in photos. The absolute best lighting conditions for an outdoor picture is actually an overcast sky. In full sun, the light washes out all the color of the photo and makes many things just appear white. This never looks good, and should definitely be avoided.
Lastly, do not use flash. Flash causes the effect mentioned above (washed out white color), as well as other artifacts such as redeye. Instead of flash, try positioning the subject in a way the natural light of the scene is illuminating the subject, and take the photo from that angle. If one follows these simple tips, they will be sure to see their photo book quality improve.
